The girls at the center recently had the incredible opportunity to visit the Sports Science Institute of South Africa (SSISA), thanks to Old Mutual.
From the moment they arrived, the team at SSISA welcomed them warmly and took them on a fascinating tour of the world-class facility. From the moment they walked in, it was clear this wasn’t just any building—it’s a place where athletes level up with science, training, and a whole lot of inspiration.

Fitness First The girls were split into groups and guided through exercises designed to keep cyclists strong, flexible, and race-ready.
Fueling for Success In the classroom, a professional dietitian shared powerful tips on nutrition:
What to eat before training for comfort and energy
How to fuel during long rides for endurance
Smart recovery meals to bounce back stronger

Mind Over Matter The session didn’t stop at the body. The girls also learned how mindset shapes performance. From positive thinking before a race to understanding how the brain influences potential, they left with a deeper appreciation of the mental side of cycling.
Curiosity & Growth The girls asked thoughtful questions, showing just how eager they are to grow—not only as cyclists but as athletes who understand the science behind their sport.

SSISA showed them that being an athlete is about more than training—it’s about science, nutrition, and mindset. And the Khaltsha girls? They’re ready to ride stronger, smarter, and happier than ever!
