Young people in Khayelitsha carry stories, talent and ambition that deserve to be heard far beyond their immediate community. Khaltsha Cycling Academy is proud to share that we are now an official Affiliate of World Youth Clubs, a global youth-development network supporting more than 4,000 youth organisations across 70+ countries.

A wider community of learning and support

World Youth Clubs supports youth organisations through mentoring, coaching and consulting, grant research support, capacity-building resources, international connections, Global Links and youth recognition opportunities.

For Khaltsha Cycling Academy, this affiliation is about learning, connection and growth. It strengthens our ability to learn from other youth organisations, access international networks, and build stronger programmes and partnerships that respond to the real needs of young people in Khayelitsha.

Connecting Khayelitsha to a global youth-development community

Khaltsha Cycling Academy is especially excited about the chance to connect the experiences and aspirations of young people in Khayelitsha with a wider global youth-development community.

Our Champions have much to gain from these links, and much to contribute. Their voices, challenges and hopes form part of a broader story of youth development across the world. Through this affiliation, Khaltsha Cycling Academy Joins World Youth Clubs to Expand Opportunities for Young People in Khayelitsha in ways that are practical, respectful and rooted in community.

Early support for examination preparation

As an early outcome of this relationship, WYC has approved a US$900 Mini-Grant to support Khaltsha Cycling Academy's Education Support Programme.

This grant will help strengthen structured revision support for our Champions as they prepare for their examinations. Mathematics will be the primary focus, with English and Literacy support included as part of the programme.

We are grateful for this specific support. At the same time, we want to be clear that this affiliation does not mean WYC is a long-term funder of Khaltsha Cycling Academy or that WYC directly funds all of our work. The Mini-Grant is a focused contribution that will support a defined education activity.

Building from this opportunity

Khaltsha Cycling Academy is committed to measuring the impact of this support and using what we learn to strengthen future education programmes. We will look at how structured revision helps learners build confidence, improve preparation and stay engaged during a demanding examination period.

This new affiliation is a meaningful step for Khaltsha Cycling Academy, our Champions and our community. It opens doors to shared learning, wider relationships and stronger support for young people in Khayelitsha, while keeping our work grounded where it matters most: in the lives and futures of our young people.
