Rising from the Ashes in Khayelitsha

On October 16th, a devastating fire tore through the Site B informal settlement in Khayelitsha, Cape Town, destroying over 60 shacks and leaving more than 190 families homeless. The blaze, allegedly started during a domestic dispute, quickly spread due to strong winds and the densely packed structures. In total, over 300 people were displaced across Khayelitsha and nearby Witsands.

In the wake of this tragedy, the Khaltsha Cycling Academy has joined forces with Makukhanye Art Room to launch a heartfelt fundraising initiative. Their goal: to support the families who lost everything in the fire and help them rebuild their lives with dignity and hope.
